Jon N.

I've been playing guitar and singing since I was 13 years old, and I've been in many local bands since then. After high school, I went on to extend my education in music in both MATC and Carroll University. I'm currently in a blues-rock band from Milwaukee called "Jonny T-Bird & the MPs." We perform almost everywhere in Southeastern WI at least 3-5 times a month. I hope to eventually make my music career a full time job.

Hello future students! I am a happy, caring, and kind teacher who balances these traits with a serious expectation for students to practice and be willing to learn new things.  In 2000, I graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education.  Currently I am working on two different Masters Degrees-one in Music History and the other in Education. Teaching private music lessons along with teaching in the musical classroom for 14 years has encouraged me to experience students from all different age groups and all walks of life.  I believe that is why I love teaching so much-I love to meet new people, enthusiastic about learning and then I love to adapt lessons to their interests and their skill sets. In my spare time I love to make my own line of jewelry and home decor crafts.  Besides this, I absolutely love to read and write.  Currently I am writing my first fantasy fiction novel.
Ages Taught: 5-80

I have been teaching guitar in the greater Milwaukee area for 16 years and have had hundreds of students. With an Associates degree in Occupational Music, I combine text book fundamentals with a creative outlook and professional stage experience. I encourage students to have fun with their instrument as opposed to making learning guitar a chore. I start out with simple techniques to get my students playing quickly. Once the comfort level is achieved then I go back and show them the theory behind what they learned. A comfortable and stress free environment is key to the success of my teaching. Professionally I have been playing in a heavy metal band for 12 years and have shared the stage with many national acts including Damage Plan (Dimebag Darrel), Mudvayne, Type O Negative, Hell Yeah, Wednesday 13,  KMFDM, Custom, MSI and multiple 4000 plus shows with Marilyn Manson.  Beginners to advanced players are welcome along with everyone ages 9-70. I specialize in teaching the basic elements of playing guitar, music theory, scales and soloing, improvisation, your favorite songs and how to write your own songs, rock, blues and metal. I'm a rock n roll guy and my lessons rock as well. I love to inspire others and help them to reach their dreams.
Ages Taught: 9-70
Styles: Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues

I think music is exciting and I enjoy showing my students how exciting it is. I enjoy giving lessons to young and old, and also have a Kindermusic program for 2-5 year old students.   I try to teach what the students are interested in and make it fun and interesting so that they learn the lessons and their favorite songs. Every student is different and needs to be taught in a way that makes learning easy and fun for them.  In 1992, I graduated with a degree in music from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and have been teaching, performing, writing and recording music ever since.
Ages Taught: 3-80
Styles: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues, Folk, Country, R&b
