There are also, within the townships unincorporated areas. These are areas that have a name, which may be a family, or Indian name; the name given to the school for the area or descriptive names like Duplainville or Lake Five. They have or had at one time, a concentration of businesses, schools, churches and or homes to be a small community. They, however, never grew large enough to qualify as a village or city. They have no government function, but appear in many early records, obituaries, and newspaper articles. To the people familiar with the county they do define a given area of the county.
