Schlitz Family Genealogy and History Inquiries

by Mike Reilly

The following is a listing of family members who have contacted me requesting information or are supplying information about the Schlitz family (not necessarily related to THE Joseph Schlitz).

From:    [email protected]   (psmoot)

Just got through looking over your pages on the Schlitz Families. Very interesting!

I am trying, to trace my "Schlitzkus" Family. My G-Grandmother was Julia Ann Schlitzkus. She was born 1875 in OstPreussen (Prussia, now part of Poland). Julia Ann was the daughter of Julius Schlitzkus, and the grand-daughter of Juliana Kadareit and Christofer Schlitzkus....all originally of OstPreussen.

These Schlitzkus families eventually migrated to Southern Texas...in the Washington Co., area. Now my mother always said that her grandmother was somehow connected to the "Schlitz Brewery" family. After reading your pages, on the family history, I'm doubting the family story. But, I'm wondering if maybe, some of my Schlitzkus family, may have worked for the Schlitz Brewery....do you know the locations in Texas, in the late 1800's thru early 1900's? Maybe everybody just made the jump to the "related" because of the similarities of surnames....
