Emigration: 1844, With wife Harriet and three children from 1st marriage left Liverpool, England aboard the "Montezuma", arriving New York later that year. Via the Erie Canal and Great lakes, came to Milwaukee.

Residence 1: Purchased 40 acres in Section 15 of Lisbon Township, later expanding to 140 acres.

Residence 2: 1844, Claimed 40 acres at the present intersection of Hillside Road and Hoards Lane. (Source: "Boy Grew to be Part of History", by Fred H. Keller.)

Residence 3: 1885, Howard house was rebuilt, by wife Harriet, in cream brick; it lasted until March 24, 1997, when a $200,000 fire burned the house and contents, causing it to be demolished in May, 1997. (Source: "Boy Grew to be Part of History", by Fred H. Keller, Sussex Sun, 10/16/2001.)
