"HOP-GROWERS, ATTENTION!" I offer for sale my farm of 123 acres, situated one mile north of Sussex, town of Lisbon; is well watered, and there is a log house, good barn, and excellent stabling for horses, cattle and sheep on the premises. There is on the farm, 200 good bearing fruit trees, consisting of apples, plums and cherries; 40 acres of good tamarack, with plenty of poles, will be sold with the farm if desired. This is a capital chance for anyone wishing to organize hop-raising. I will also sell 40 acres on sec 15, same town, 6 acres of which is cleared, balance timber. Also, 40 acres timber on section 10. Also, 18 acres on sec 22, consisting of excellent marsh and meadow, all situated in town of Lisbon. The property is sold for no fault, but the proprietor wishes to retire from business. This land is situated on the Naceedah Plains, west bank of the Wisconsin River, town of Marion, Juneau Co., and for hop-raising is equal to much of the far-famed Sauk County land. 20 cwt per acre was raised on land near by last year, of excellent quality. Much of this land could be plowed up and planted with hops this spring, as it requires little cleaning. Apply to WILLIAM CROUCH, Sussex, Waukesha County, Wisconsin --- About January 15, 1891, Waukesha Freeman reports that he sold 80 acres to his son(?) Thomas Crouch in sec. 14, 15, town of Lisbon for either $3,000 or $3,600. --- July 23, 1891 - William (Sr or Jr.?) visiting his sister, Mrs. Wm. Sedgwick --- Waukesha Freeman, August 24, 1893 - The application of Wm. Crouch to be released from guardianship was taken up on Wednesday morning and developed many interesting points. Mr. Crouch is an old man who was placed under guardianship in 1891, after a medical examination by Drs. Wiggington and Hewitt. Later it developed that there were family differences in the case and the children believe that Mr. Crouch was competent to care for his property, and this condition finally resulted in the application in question. Note: as reported on August 31 - he is released from personal, but property guardianship is still under William Small.
